Greetings From Africa

I keep saying I will write right after "this" is done.  Well if that keeps up I will never get anything written We are now at the end of the school break and are getting ready for the new school year.  Some of the children have already gone back. Our school starts Monday the 27th and the rest of the children will return to their school on February 3rd.

We have been working steadily on the building of the new classrooms and dorms and we are almost finished.  I think we will make it for Monday's deadline.  Praise God! We had a slight set back when we found a problem with the roof, but thank God we found it in time to correct it before it became a major problem or injured someone. We are also try to get the compound cleared and ready for the children to play.

We have a new developement in the school ministry.  We were going to bring students from the refugee camps to Lugazi, but because of a problem with the school that is there in the village we were not going to be able to meet that need. Too many children wanted to come and we would not be able to accomidate them physically or finacially. Praise God another oppertunity opened.  We are going to open a school in the village of Palorinya which is centrally located between 5-6 refugee camps, this will keep the children with their families which have already been torn apart by the war.  It will be a challenge but God is faithful.

Pastor Tiondi has land with a house on it that is currently unoccupied, so we are going to make that house the school office and storage.  We are in the process of clearing the land and putting up the school and housing for the teachers. We are going to start small like we did here in Lugazi and expand as we get the finances. We plan on have 5 classes: Nursery (baby, middle and top) P1 and P2.  Then we will increase a grade every year until we have a complete primary to P7.  We will move as the Lord leads.

I just spent the last 2 weeks up in Moyo working with some of the ministries we have there and looking over the new school in the village.  It is amazing what doors are opening up to share the Gospel. God is good.  We have worked closely with Pastors in 2 of the refugee camps, but this lets us in to some of the others that we were not able to get into.

I will be working more and more in the schools.  I will be  teaching a class to the upper Primary on Knowing the Living God -- Biblical Foundations for the Christian Faith. I will also be able to meet with more of the parents. We will be having boarders this year and we have finally added P7 so we are a complete Primary school. All of these changes push me way out of my comfort zone, but God is faithful and the Gospel is going forward in new ways that we didn't expect.

For those of you that like TIA (this is Africa) fun facts here is one for the books.  Coming back from Moyo our car got a ticket. No we didn't get the ticket the car had the ticket.  The previous owner never paid his ticket and so we as the current owner had to pay it. This happened to us in Kampala when we rented a car, we had to pay the parking tickets for the past renters because the car was in our possession when the plate was run.  So a note for you that travel, check your car's history before you drive.
