Greetings from Uganda!
Everyone
is safe and almost well. We have had a few cases of malaria and the
flu but that is common here so although I hate to see anyone sick, they
are being taken care of and they are healing. Kevin, our head teacher
and her baby have been sick, but I have not been able to see them for
she has been in Adjumani with here family. Jesca's mom is also in
Adjumani and has been very sick but she is getting better although she
is very weak. Common things we deal with here in Africa.
We
are still unable to travel and although we are in what they call lock
down, we have the freedom to walk anywhere. The children play outside
and I go to town and get what I want. Most businesses are open in
Lugazi although we still have a 7pm curfew. Everything looks normal
except there is no transportation. The buses and the taxis aren't
running and I am able to get across the highway without having to dodge
taxis and lorrys.
Pastor
Tiondi had to travel to Moyo and the village to take care of things in
the garden and the animals there. Our worker quit so we have to find
someone to take care of things there. We also need to get some planting
in that garden done. Hopefully we will be able to get some help from
the refugees. We have had them work the land before to help their
church and hopefully that will work for then again. Pastor was able to
travel because he was on the motorcycle and has business to take care
of. He gets stopped a lot at roadblocks but they let him through since
he can prove business. Hopefully the buses will be running soon so we
can go and help.
We
have no conferences scheduled for right now. We are getting ready but
have no dates because of the travel restrictions. This has left me with
plenty of time to study and write up the things that are needed for the
conferences and the school. We have just finished the study in
Ephesians and Colossians we are now starting on Acts for the Youth Bible
study, we are going through John on Sunday mornings and Proverbs will
be for the Tuesday night study when we are able to go to the homes
again; hopefully that will be very soon.
We
were able to get some home study materials to give to the school
children but they were printed like a newspaper and so to get them to a
size we could photocopy I had to copy them all by hand onto regular
paper. There are about 20 pages per class. I was able to get Regina's
son to do the drawings. He is an excellent artist and me, well I have a
hard time with stick figures. Praise God he did the work or the kids
would never be able to figure out a bicycle from a camel.
God
has been good to us. Thank you for the extra support, it really helped
supplying our needs here and helping supply needs of people in our
church that haven't been able to get all the food they need. We are
still feeding 20 people everyday for the students haven't been able to
go back to school or go home. There are still so many needs. The
weather has been a problem too. We are safe and dry but the last storm
blew the roof off of Mommie's house and made one of the walls
structurally unsound. Henry and our young men were able to fix it for
her before the next storm. Praise God for His provisions.
We
did have some trouble with thieves at the school. They went into the
rooms and pulled all the electrical wiring and the boxes for switches
and outlets. Who would think of taking that but they did. We now have
everything rewired and all the locks repaired and new locks in place.
Pray for these desperate people. Praise God no body got hurt taking the
wires or from the wires being gone.
There
is also a lot of flooding around the Lake Victoria and down the chain
of lakes off the Nile River. The lake is higher than it has ever been
recorded, due to the rains in Kenya and Tanzania and here. Pray for
those people that have been displaced and are dealing with moving and
having nowhere to go and no way to get there.
Such
is life in Africa. I know you are going through a lot there also. I
get some news from home but most of it is political. Let me know what
is going on in your world so I can pray for you as you pray for me. I
am going to try to get a blog going on the Calvary Chapel Gridley
website, then I can post pictures and regular updates. I am still
learning how to do that but hopefully it will be up and running soon.

everywhere. We just praise Him for everything that is happening good
and bad for we know that He is in control and all things happen for His
glory. I praise Him is all things.
Take

Pray for me as I pray for you, drop me a letter when you think about
