Africa Update

 December 23,2024 Merry Christmas and Happy New Year It is hard to believe that Christmas is just 3 days away.   It comes so quietly here.   No Santa Claus or Christmas trees, no wrapping presents or mad last-minute shopping.   The weather is bright and sunny with an occasional thunderstorm, but they pass quickly and the sun is shining again like nothing happened. Not your typical winter wonderland. It has been a strange year with many twists and turns and challenges.   My mother passed away last December so the first part of the year I was dealing with all the paperwork of getting her estate settled and trying to get my work visa so I could return to work in Uganda.   As always God’s timing is perfect and I received my Entry Permit just after the Estate closed and the last of my Unemployment check was received.   So I am now back in Uganda working with Victory Faith Foundation Ministries.  January 23, 2025 Greetings From Africa I keep saying I will write right after "this" is done.  Well if that keeps up I will never get anything written We are now at the end of the school break and are getting ready for the new school year.  Some of the children have already gone back. Our school starts Monday the 27th and the rest of the children will return to their school on February 3rd. We have been working steadily on the building of the new classrooms and dorms and we are almost finished.  I think we will make it for Monday's deadline.  Praise God! We had a slight set back when we found a problem with the roof, but thank God we found it in time to correct it before it became a major problem or injured someone. We are also try to get the compound cleared and ready for the children to play.  September 12,2024 Good Morning! I hope and pray that all is well.  We have returned from the Annual Conference in Moyo and are now concentrating on the last school term of the year which started Monday. The Moyo Conference went well.  We were expecting about 400, but only about 200 attended.  This is common in Africa when transport isn't paid.  We were hosted by Moyo Baptist Church and Pastor Simon and Norah allowed us to stay with them for the 5 days.  We praise God for their care for us. The Conference Theme was "A Heart for Missions and Ministry" Romans 10:14-15.  Moyo is a very depressed area in the West Nile district, and it is located about 5 miles from the South Sudan Border.  The people here are losing hope and struggling in their way of life because of the war, many refugees and poor infrastructure.  We were hoping to encourage the Pastor's in their work in the area.  I enjoy working with the people and refugees in the Moyo are...

 July7, 2025 Greetings from Uganda!! That's right I finally made it back in God's perfect timing.  I was able to finish up all my responsibilities in America and when that was done my entry permit came through.  God's providence is wonderful. I returned on the 21st of June, and I jumped right back into the routine at the school, but I also jumped right int all the preparations for the Introduction of Pastor Tiondi's daughter.  It is a traditional meeting of the families of the engaged couple.  A lot of ceremony and traditions are involved. It's a long day a lot of prep of food and gift for the bride price--food, animals, furniture, clothes, and even spears. Now that it is over I am trying to get things going at the school.  I am doing morning devotions and Thursday Chapel for the children.  I am also doing a Bible Study on Esther and getting ready for a Women's conference in Moyo.  I also have to get prepared for the next book I am to teach; Genes...

  Christmas and Holiday greetings to you all! I praise God that I will be able to celebrate Christmas with my USA family and friends but I am missing my African family.  I was able to see and talk with them all via the internet.  Praise God for that. They are all doing well. There are about 25 people living at the house during the school break and so it is a real happy challenge, but it is good to have all the children home for the holidays. Due to the Ebola outbreak in western Uganda the schools had to be closed early this year.  The nursery graduation (Speech Day) had to be down sized, but we were ale to do the cap and gown ceremony and all the students were recognized for their achievements during the year. Hopefully we will be able to start the new year term on time and not be hindered by Covid-19 or Ebola.  Good morning from Uganda, The introduction is over and the wedding of Pastor Tiondi is next week, Saturday October 1st.  Enter his bride and exit the missionary, but not because of the bride. We have been working with the NGO  Bureau for over a year and a half.  It has been back and forth.  They tell us they have everything and the certificate will be printed only to go to pick it up and have them tell us we need more certifications.  Because we have not gotten the NGO renewed I can't get my letter of recommendation.  I was given until Oct 24th to satisfy and there is no time to finish the work, so without a working VISA I need to go home or face charges and fines. I bought  a one way ticket and I will be home Oct 14th.  I hope to be able to return but that is in God's hands.  The rest and refreshment will be good and it  allow me to spend time with my mom and take care of some paperwork here that is easier done in person.  Th...

  Greetings from Uganda,   I hope and Pray that all is well with all of you.  As I watch the news it seems like things couldn't get worse.  The Church of America is under attack like never before and our prayers are with you.  It hasn't hit here yet but who knows after the next election. I still haven't gotten my work visa due to hassels with the NGO board.  I want to get it soon so there is no change in my status.  There have been rumors about cracking down on missionaries here and what they can do.  Pray for me as I pray for you. It has been a crazy year with a lot of challenges and changes. If you have been following me on Facebook you know I have had my challenges with my health.  It started with a mind case of malaria and just as I am getting over that I was hit with a massive sinus infection that lasted over 2 weeks, and in the midst of that I severely sprained my ankle.  Things were starting to get back to normal and I was hi...

 Masindi  is in Western Uganda.  It is a beautiful farming area and we are working in the villages training church leaders and members in evangelism and the study of the Word of God.

 We have come along way from the way from a bushy  empty lot, to a kitchen and the new Nursery rooms.  We hope to have this finished by the end of the year.  Then we will start on the old Primary rooms and make them permanent in brick and mortar. This is part of out 5 year plan,  We will make our plans but God will direct our paths.  This will be done as the Lord wills.  We feel a little frustrated as building supplies keep increasing in price, but we know that God is able and all things are done in His time and in His way. We will praise Him for all that is done. Our second term will begin May 9th.  Pray that we have teachers and students and the Lord is glorified in all that is done.  We are praying for 200+ students. 

  Good Morning,  It  was a busy April.  Now we are looking at May and planning a lot of ministry projects, but let me catch you up on what we have done. The Masindi Church Leadership Training went well.  I was able to spend a couple of days in Kampala visiting friends before having to catch the bus (alone) to Masindi.  It was a good time of visiting and I was with some of the people that I met on my first trip to Uganda in 2003.  They are still going strong for the Lord and that is an encouragement. In Masindi we had 2 long days of teaching and then going out into the village to do evangelism.  We divided up into 5 teams and just went to the area around the church and spoke to people and encouraged them and invited them to the church.  Many people gave their life to the Lord.  We were not able to get a car to take us back to Masindi from the village so we came out 5 people on 2 motorcycles, with luggage.  I wish I had ...
